In accordance with the Danish tradition, on 3 January H. M. Queen Margaret II accompanied by Crown Prince Frederik and his spouse Crown Princess Mary hosted a New Year's reception for representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Kingdom of Denmark.

The reception, which is traditionally held in the beginning of January, is not only an opportunity for diplomats to pass New Year's wishes for the royal family, but also to summarize their activity and present plans for the coming year.

The year 2018 was marked by the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence, culminating in September with a concert given by the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra from Katowice for an audience gathered in the prestigious concert hall of the Danish Radio, DR Koncerthuset, and a conference on energy cooperation organized in cooperation with the Confederation of Danish Industry and the companies Gaz-System and Energinet. In the autumn, the long-standing dispute over the delimitation of sea areas in the Baltic Sea came to an end – an agreement on this matter was signed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs J. Czaputowicz and A. Samuelsen on 19 November 2018. Furthermore, the intensive efforts put into the so-called Northern Gate project were continued. This project will connect the Polish transmission network with deposits in Norway via Denmark, and one of the elements is the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline. On 11 December 2018, on the margins of the COP24 climate conference, Piotr Naimski, Polish Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure, and Lars Christian Lilleholt, Danish Minister of Energy, Utilities and Climate, signed an intergovernmental agreement on the Baltic Pipe.

In her conversation with H. M. Queen Margaret II, ambassador H. Mościcka-Dendys mentioned that 2019 will also be an anniversary year in Polish-Danish relations on account of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and Denmark. She informed about the planned events – from participation in the Historical Days in Copenhagen in March to the Polish elements in the Shakespeare Festival at Kronborg in August.
